We love living in Melbourne…well, it is the most liveable city in the world!

And we love discovering local businesses such as Melbournalia…a shop that is about all things Melbourne!

Founded in 2011 by four Melbourne creatives…Michael Brady, Jenny Brown, Dale Campisi and Alasdair Mackinnon…Melbournalia was originally a temporary concept store, appearing in various locations such as coffee shops and the Queen Vic Market.

However since November 2013, Melbournalia has been located permanently at the top end of Bourke Rd…just up from the famous Pellegini’s…and is now run by Jenny Brown and her small team.

We met Jenny on our visit, who kindly opened a little early for us when she noticed us standing outside!

Melbournalia is packed full of locally designed, quality goods that are all inspired by this wonderful city…in fact, over 50 local makers and designers are represented!

The shop is beautifully set up for easy browsing…the wooden counter is a work of art itself!

And there are no cheap and nasty souvenirs to be found here…instead it is packed full of fabulous goodies!

You will find everything from candles and chocolate to scarves and socks…

There are various tea towels, cups and bowls…

There is even tea from the Yarra Valley…

I love this retro style postcard…might have to go back and get a few to send to friends interstate and overseas!

I also loved that orange shrug…probably lucky I didn’t notice it when we were there!

And there are plenty of books…I am a sucker for books about Melbourne and the people who live here so we left with three books and a new magazine, all of which I will review in the coming weeks!

So if you are looking for a high quality gift with a difference, or perhaps you are visiting this city, and are wanting to take home a little piece of Melbourne, then a trip to Melbournalia is a must!
