I know I should be environmentally friendly and put a “No Junk Mail” sign up, but the fact is that I love junk mail…I love the pile of catalogues that get jammed into our mail box, especially during this time of year!

And our new neighbourhood has much better junk mail then our last one!

Junk MailThis is what was in our box last week…just one days worth!

I am very “internet aware” and can spend hours on my ipad or tablet, and I know that there are plenty of shopping apps, but I still like reading printed catalogues! Though if I decide to purchase something, it will be online, or in store…not via mail order.

But I am a bit particular…first I go through the pile to remove any of no interest to me…ie supermaket, real estate flyers and so on. My main favourites are department store catalogues, any gadget catalogues, books, and of course anything including stationary!

Then I make myself a nice cup of tea, and I get comfy on the couch…and enjoy some peaceful browsing!

I rip out any pages of interest…gift ideas…or just for me…sshhhhh…..

And I can assure you that they all go into the recycle bin once I have finished with them!

I kind of miss the old days where you could get fabulous catalogues in the mail, that you could spend hours pouring over them.

One such catalogue was from The Remo Store in Sydney, which unfortunately closed in April, 2012. Never went to the store, but loved the catalogues!

An example of a current store who does a good printed catalogue…and its free…. is Kiki K – beautifully printed and full of “I want” stationary and other items!

Another one I came across recently was from Abode Living – a luxury bed linen and homewares store. Their 100 page Summer 2014 catalogue is full of gorgeous products!

Yes, these stores have websites, and yes, there are stores locally…but I still love to read through a printed catalogue, especially one as beautifully presented as what these stores produce!

Please let me know of any other stores who produce read worthy catalogs, in Australia or overseas…..but in the meantime, I will get my fix from the good old junk mail that arrives in our mail box!
