It’s time to say farewell to 2016…

Farewell-2016

I have seen so much on social media about people wanting to see the back of 2016…that it has been a terrible year.

There is no denying that there has been some dreadful events occur across the world.

Us humans are more and more hellbent in hurting ourselves…physically, mentally and emotionally…as well as our environment.

And of course, there has been a long roll call of celebrities that have now left this mortal coil.

What I have noticed that there is more and more negativity…the trend is now to see the bad in everything and anything.

And some people seem to happiest when there is something to complain about, no matter how trivial.

But for us in our little world here, 2016 has been a pretty good year….so no complaining here.

We did lose our beloved furkid, Bill, and we miss him so much, but he did reach the grand age of 16 1/2 and had a wonderful life.

I have had some health issues which although not life threatening in anyway, have made me pretty sick and miserable.

But it looks like I am slowly getting on top of things by following a strict low Fodmap diet and being very diligent about what I eat.

Fingers crossed it continues to work, and I can say goodbye to horrible nausea for good…and that is a wonderful way to finish the year.

And an added bonus is that I have lost weight and can fit back into all my vintage clothes…yay!

However, getting back to the real good things….there is quite a long list!

Firstly, my husband is still 110% healthy and happy, four and a half years after his liver transplant.

In fact, he has clocked up over 1100kms running over the last 12 months!

We think of his donor and their family at this time…without them allowing organ donation, my husband would not be alive and well.

And we are forever grateful.

I rediscovered my love for film photography and have developed an interest in collecting vintage cameras.

And through my photography interests, we have met some fabulous people over the year…love our little network!

We had a perfect trip up to Port Douglas during the Easter holidays…that view from our balcony was to die for!

We were presented with some great opportunities to speak about my husband’s liver transplant journey and the importance of organ donation, including doing 7 school talks to over 3000 students!

And we have been able to get out and about exploring this fabulous city we live in, including taking our younger furkid on lots of fun weekend adventures.

So I definitely can’t complain about 2016 in my world, and am looking forward to what 2017 brings.

Especially as we have a new furkid joining us in a few months!

And we are intending to finish this year as the way the next will begin.

No wild partying for us…just a relaxed night, good food, early to bed and we will rise early to greet the new year.

So wishing you all a very happy and safe New Year, and may all your dreams come true in 2017!

See you on the flip side!

What’s your plan for NYE? A quiet one or see it in with bang?
