After visiting the Miss Fisher’s Murder Mystery exhibition last year, we were excited to hear that the costumes from The Dressmaker were now on display at the beautiful Rippon Lea estate…

The designer who did the costume for the Miss Fisher’s series…Marion Boyce…was one of two designers to work on this Australian film.

Set in the 1950’s in a small country town called Dungatar, the film is based on the book by Rosalie Ham.

Kate Winslet stars as the beautiful, talented dressmaker Tilly, who returns to her tiny hometown to right wrongs from her past…and ends up transforming the fashion of the town…with a good dose of revenge.

The exhibition is beautifully displayed as always with about 50 costumes to see…

Plus hats..how gorgeous are these…

Now I have to be honest and say I have not seen the film as yet…but I have read the book so know the storyline.

I was going to download it and watch it while I was home alone, but after going to the exhibition, my husband said that he would now like to see it also.

And going to the exhibition has made me want to see it even more!

My favourite dress was this one…

In fact, they are all beautiful…and Rippon Lea is the perfect place to host such an exhibition…

We had another reason to visit…the Dungator Tea Room…serving morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea…

Hannah, the gorgeous girl behind Miss Poppins and Me paper flowers, is the manager of the Dungatar Tea Room.

She has beautifully styled the tea rooms with vintage finds…

It was a perfect way to start our visit on a cold winter’s day by having a hot cup of tea…perfectly made in a teapot, complete with a colourful tea cosy…

And my husband enjoyed a sweet treat…a delicious orange cake…

Now I have to be honest and say I have not seen the film as yet…but I have read the book so know the storyline.

I was going to download it and watch it while I was home alone, but after going to the exhibition, my husband said that he would now like to see it also!

So if you are looking for something to do to get out of the wintery weather, then I can highly recommend a trip to Rippon Lea…but don’t leave it too long as the exhibition finishes on 31st July.

And if the rain holds off, it is also worth braving the cold for a walk around the gardens…the autumn leaves were still hanging on when we were there a couple of weeks ago…

And don’t forget to enjoy a coffee/tea and cake at the cozy tea room…
